Laid Back Weekend

I wish I could have more weekends like this past one. It was a very laid back weekend.

Friday was Ed's birthday so the girls and I spent the day straightening up the house, wrapping his gift and making his cookie cake.

Ed liked his giant cookie but he asked why I had to put "35" on it. Ha!

My sister gave me her old bread machine that she no longer used. On Saturday I finally had the chance to try it out and it was much easier than I expected. I used this cinnamon raisin swirl bread recipe and I think it turned out really well. It was delicious! I definitely will be trying out some more recipes soon.

I also made some banana bread - finally - with some ripe bananas I had stuck in the freezer a while ago.

The house smelled pretty good at this point in the day!

On Saturday night Ed and I were fortunate enough to have a night out without the girls. Our church youth group was hosting a parents' night out and we definitely took advantage! We had a nice dinner and then went to Starbucks for coffee and dessert. We each got a yummy Vanilla Bean Cupcake. I'm fairly certain that one cupcake killed my Weight Watchers daily point allowance but it was so good! We even had the time to sit at a table and slowly enjoy our drinks while playing a short game of Scrabble. I will definitely be purchasing Scrabble for Ed and I soon.

Sunday was a day full of church activities. Other than the usual morning Sunday School and service, we also had a special service in the afternoon in our new, almost finished gym. This week the floors will be laid down so before that was done we had a special prayer service inside the building where we could all write down a prayer on the concrete floors with a marker. It was very cool.

Before we went to the afternoon church service I whipped up some Valentine cupcakes. Our church is hosting WIHN (Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network) this week and the Children's Council was providing dinner on Sunday night for the families. My contribution was one of the desserts. I did set aside three cupcakes for us girls to have on Monday.

Gabrielle had choir rehearsal right after the afternoon prayer service and then it was home for a quick dinner of spaghetti o's, Ritz crackers and cheese. Then off to bed!

Sunday was a little busy but in a good kind of way. I only wish the weekdays or more weekends at least could be as relaxing as this past weekend.
